ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT WITH HONORARY COLOURS
These are the criteria according to each age group:
Grades 8 & 9 – Receive colours in the first term of the following year.
Average of at least 85% in June and December examinations. (A weight factor is awarded to different subjects e.g. mathematics and languages carry a heavier weight.)
Graad 10-12
Gr. 10 & 11’s ontvang erekleure/kleure in die eerste kwartaal van die daaropvolgende jaar.
Gr. 10: Erekleure: Gemiddeld van ten minste 80% (Junie- en Desember-eksamen).
Gr. 11: Erekleure: Gemiddeld van ten minste 80% (Junie- en Desember-eksamen).
Gr. 11: Kleure: Gemiddeld van ten minste 75% (Junie- en Desember-eksamen).
Gr. 12’s ontvang erekleure/kleure tydens die prysuitdeling.
Gr. 12: Erekleure: Gemiddeld van ten minste 80% (Junie- en September-eksamen).
Gr. 12: Kleure: Gemiddeld van ten minste 75% (Junie- en September-eksamen).

Minimum requirements for tertiary education at a university:
Passing all subjects from a designated subject list with a code 4 (50%). Subjects included on list (offered at Paarl GHS): German; French; Physical Science; Life Science; Engineering Graphics and Design; History; Geography; Accounting; Economics; Consumer Studies; Music. Subjects offered at Paarl GHS, but not on the list: Computer Applications Technology; Design Art; Life Orientation.
